Transforming caregiver perspectives

Action Research Study and Program: Transformation in Caregiver Perspectives Regarding the Sexuality of Adults with Intellectual Disabilities
Dates: 2018–2025
Role: Lead Researcher, Curriculum Developer, Facilitator
Summary of Program: Developed and implemented a comprehensive research study to address misconceptions and barriers surrounding the sexual health of individuals with developmental disabilities. Designed and delivered inclusive, evidence-based curriculum through lecture workshops. Provided tools and guidance for parents, caregivers, and service professionals. Assessed program impact through feedback collection and longitudinal data analysis to inform best practices in caregiving support.

The Bully Project – Does My Impact Match My Intent?

Summary of Program: Coordinated an outreach initiative engaging GSU students as mentors and educators, fostering a supportive environment for young individuals. This program aimed to raise awareness about bullying and promote positive social interactions among students.

Fostering open dialogue for women's health

Taboo Tea – Women's Sexual Health Discussion Series

Role: Creator, Facilitator, Committee Chair (2003–2005)
Summary of Program: Launched an ongoing public health discussion series addressing taboo topics in women’s sexual wellness, reproductive rights, and empowerment. Created a safe and inclusive environment for open dialogue, community education, and resource sharing. Sessions featured expert speakers and peer testimonials.

Cultivating a love for reading

Book and Bear Reading Program

Feed a Veteran Program

Summary of Program: Spearheaded a weekly volunteer-based initiative connecting students with veterans at the Tuskegee VA Hospital. Developed policies, coordinated logistics, and ensured sustained volunteer engagement. Focused on providing companionship and support to underserved veteran populations.

Contributing to legal research

Legal Student Research Team – Dr. T. Lawrence (O.J. Simpson Trial)
Dates: 1995
Role: Student Legal Research Assistant Team Member
Details: Selected as a student researcher through the Tuskegee University Honors Legal Research Program to support Dr. T. Lawrence in providing legal research and analysis for the defense team involved in The People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson trial. Responsibilities included reviewing legal documents, conducting case law comparisons, organizing research findings, and contributing to the research strategy.
